This picture shows the "backyard roads" that are everywhere here. They are narrow dirt roads that go between the back yards of each block (the older blocks--we don't have one). Many of the garages are around back so that's how they get to them. The main street is in front of the house.
You can't see it as well as I hoped in this picture, but there are a lot of old signs hanging in front of the store, with the german name of the store and below it the english name. There is a strong german cord here. The front sign says "Das Mobel Haus, The furniture House."
This is a wide view of the main street. Most of the businesses are between where the camera is and where the steeple of St. Pauls Church is.
