The kids were able to tour the John Taylor home to see how Grandma had decorated it for Christmas. One of her jobs in the conservation department is to decorate all the sites for Christmas. The Sister missionary let the kids behind the ropes in the kids' room to get a picture by the toy horse. The story goes that when the saints left Nauvoo, John Taylor's son was so sad and they finally discovered it was because he had to leave this horse behind. So in the middle of the night, John Taylor came back to Nauvoo to get this horse for his son.

We were able to explore and play in the groves of nauvoo, similar to but not in the exact location where Joseph Smith taught the saints.

We were also able to go on an ox ride.
