Rachel's preschool class went on a field trip to the fire station yesterday. They had obviously been prepped in class, because she woke up and came to our bedroom a little worried. "Mommy, I don't want to go to the fire station today." Why? "because we will have to roll..." Roll? "Yes, we have to roll, and then stop." Jason made the connection that she had been taught to Stop, Drop, and Roll. We assured her that she wouldn't have to do that unless there was a fire. She went and had a great time. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures because our camera isn't working. If I can't get it fixed, we'll be in the market for a new camera. If any of you have a modest (not fancy) camera that you really like, please tell us about it, as we will be researching to find the best camera for the best price. We are thinking of getting one that takes still pictures and videos. We'd love to hear what you all have and how you like them!

Let me talk to kenny before you buy- he's been looking at one that does both and not too bad a price . . .a smaller one that we can take on outdoor adventures

Barry got me one for our anniverary last year and I really do LOVE it. It does both still and motion pictures. It is a Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS. I don't know where he got it but I know it is under $200. I googled it really quick and found it at 2 places for under $150. It has been able to do everything we have wanted it to do. One negitive thing is that it burns through batteries so we bought a Lithium charger and 2 chargeable lithium batteries for about $25 for the bundle. It fixed that and recommend it to anyone. Good luck shopping!

I purchased the Kodak EasyShare Z712IS for Tara. The reason that I purchased it was because of the lens manufacture Schneider-Kreuznach. Most haven't heard of them but they have won Academy Awards in the film industry. The price was better then I could get on any other brand comparably at the time. I do think it has one downfall. It requires that you use Kodak's software to pull the pictures off of the camera. It was difficult for Tara to get used to and understand at first.
