This week's news:

Let's start with Rachel's big news.  Wednesday was a beautiful day, and, as a rule, on beautiful days we ride our bikes whenever we can.  But Rachel thought she had forgotten how to ride a bike, and didn't want to ride hers to the library.  She was angry and irrational.  But we needed to get to the libary, so I did what any sensible parent would have done: I started bribing her.  Now, is it bribing if I ask her what reward she should get for giving it a good try?  Nothing would work.  A treat from the piano treasure box?  No.  Ice cream after dinner?  No.  So I pulled out all the stops.  Piano lessons?  She's been begging me for at least 6 months to start giving her piano lessons.  I had already bought the books for when the time was right.  Well, she walked her bike to the library, but after a while she said, "Mommy, do you think if I rode my bike all the way home, you will give me piano lessons?"  So I agreed.  And as soon as we got home, she was ready:
(writing her name in her piano books)

Any Davis' out there recognize this sweatshirt?  Jason wore it many years ago, I've seen pictures of him in it.  Grandma Carol sent it our way a while ago, and Kyle decided he wanted to wear it to school the other day.
On Saturday, Kyle got his first practical lesson in the art of cooking bacon,
and a couple of days ago, he noticed this beautiful sunrise out the back door and took a picture:
Enjoy!

Isn't is so neat (and also a little sad!) when our children and babies start growing up and can do so many fun and new things! Thanks for sharing! Beautiful sunset!

Rachel and the bike is so funny! Bet she will do good at piano if she wants to learn so bad! Love the sweatshirt on Kyle! Can't wait to see everyone!
