Journaling my birthday yoga retreat!

I just had the most awesome weekend!  It all started with yoga camp.  Jess and I are doing an online yoga camp together this month, and the instructor actually lives in Austin, TX,  where Jess lives.  We discovered that she offers a free yoga class in an art museum every 3rd Thursday.  Jess wrote me with the crazy idea that I should fly out the day after my birthday and we could go to the class and have a visit.  And, somehow, it worked out!  Next thing I know, I'm on a plane to Austin, Texas!

We went straight from the airport to the museum, because we heard it fills up fast, and we were NOT going to miss it.  We enjoyed the art museum, then when the time came, rolled out our mats in art gallery space.  How awesome is that?
I tried not to be fangirl, but this lady really is my hero.  She is so down-to-earth, genuine, and authentic in every way.  We asked her for a picture, and when she found out I came from Missouri to see her, she invited us to be her guests at her Saturday class (which is normally $10 a class).  We were thinking of doing it anyway, so we were thrilled.
Just one piece of art we loved:
and me standing in front of Jess' favorite- the wall.  It's so pretty, the picture doesn't do it justice.
We went back to Jess and Trent's house, and they showed me to my beautiful room.  I took a picture so I can remember this bed.  It was amazing.  They have a 4 inch memory foam topper on the mattress, plus these amazing sheets that feel like were dipped in lotion, plus a soft plush blanket and quilt on top.  Seriously the most comfortable bed I've slept in.  I looked forward to it every night!

Jess and Trent fed me sooo well while I was there.  They were in the middle of a cleanse diet, so all whole food, clean eats, and I LOVED it.  It was much my kind of food, and it was delicious!  It didn't take long for me to feel like Jess and I were on a yoga retreat weekend.  With yoga everyday (sometimes twice a day), amazing food, and the best company.
Friday we hung out around town, going for walks and going to a few stops in town, including the local library and the goodwill store where Jess got the amazing lotion sheets.
Saturday morning, we were off to more Yoga with Adriene!  This one was at the Salvage Vanguard Theater in Austin.  Very interesting space for yoga, it was awesome.

Then we were off to a cool mediterranean eatery, where we had salads, falafel, grape leaves, and sweet potato fries.  I'm telling you we ate well!

After that we headed out to Lady Bird Lake, where we planned to ride some water bikes.  The weather must have been a little too chilly for it, because none were to be found, but we had a great walk around the lake and found this awesome tree.  Jess helped me up into it, but then there was not one to help her. :(  We both enjoyed it though.  It reminded us of a big tree in the field behind our yard when we were growing up, and we just wanted to build a fort in it!

Then we continued our adventure to 6th street, which is famous for it's live music and bars.  Thankfully for me, we went in the afternoon looking for souvenir shops, and it was still pretty cool to be there and listen to bands warming up and stuff.
That evening we chilled with Fatty, Prudence, and Lucy, their babies.  I was introduced to "The Big Bang Theory" (funny!) and watch The Intern (a movie I recommended).
Sunday morning I was able to go to church close by their house, and it was pretty fun to be reminded that the church is pretty much the same wherever you go (except this one was much bigger than ours in Concordia!).  Everyone was very friendly and I had a very nice time.  When I got back to Jess and Trent's, they had snacks ready, and even packed some for my flight home which was soooo nice.  Off we went to the airport and back home.  What a great weekend.
Thanks Jess and Trent for taking such good care of me!  I had the best time!
