The end of track for Kayla:

The end of track season was bittersweet for Kayla.  She brought home lots of medals:

She and her relay team made it sectionals!

I got to watch.  They were so pumped, they wanted to go to State so bad.  They spent the morning watching other events and finally it was time to warm up.

Last pep talk from Coach Gramates.  Kayla has so much respect and fondness for this guy.  He's moving to another school this summer, so we'll miss him.  It doesn't look like her school will have track next year, so this was it for Kayla!

Team prayer:

Kayla's ready to go.  She was the anchor, the last one to run:

And then...well, her team-mate had a false start which automatically disqualified them. :-(  They all felt so horrible.  It was rough, especially for her team-mate who was responsible.  It could definitely happen to anyone, of course.
They comforted each other for a while, and then we went home...

Not how she hoped it would end, but the season as a whole was such a great experience for her.
These are from the Spring Sports Banquet last week:

SO sad about the false start. I bet the other girl was so devastated. Glad she had a great year though. I hope there is a track team her senior year! Go Kayla! So proud of you!

Wow, completely disqualified? That seems a bit harsh. Strange that they will not have a team next year, maybe she can get a running group going on her own. Glad she enjoyed it.
