For Thanksgiving we got to spend the week with my parents in Mesquite. Jason had to work until just before Thanksgiving, but Kyle, Rachel and I were able to head over the weekend before. We left after school on Friday. Kyle has his learner's permit, so he and I took turns driving. We encountered wind and rain, but all went well until we hit the San Raphael mountain pass, where a whiteout blizzard hit us. I was driving and it was terrifying. I couldn't see the lines on the road or the side of the road. An angel car in the form of a white camaro passed us up and led us through the pass. I was so grateful. I was proud of Kyle for his driving and support. We finally made it late Friday night to Mesquite.
The next day we were able to go see my Mom perform with the Mesquite Toes Tap Team at a Festival of Trees fundraiser. It was also her birthday! My mom was embarrassed because she said it wasn't their best show- just thrown together quick- but I was so happy to watch her perform!
Rachel did A LOT of hot tubbing and swimming. Especially after cousin Brinkley got there.
On Sunday we went to church with parents and I got to enjoy my mom teaching Sunday School.
Monday Rachel, Kyle and I were off to St. George for a temple morning and then spend time with Jess and Trent for Jess' birthday.
We went on a great hike with Jess and Trent and the fur babies!

Then it was back to Mesquite and a beautiful sunset with beautiful people.
Tuesday Rachel and I got to watch my mom teach her dance classes. It was soooo fun to watch her and the dances she choreographed.
Someday, I will make it to their Christmas spectacular, with their awesome costumes and completed routines.
Then, Wednesday, this happened:
Kayla and the Days flew in from Missouri! It was so nice to see my girl in flesh and blood for the first time in 6 months.
That afternoon some of us took a field trip to the museum where my dad volunteers. He showed us the awesome work he's done, and the display cases he's built.
Everyone was excited about my Dad's "new" car.
I think we ate at Cafe Rio 3 times.
And we spent a lot of time hanging out and playing games.
Wednesday evening, Jason arrived!
Our 20th wedding anniversary was the day before, so we were especially happy to be together.
Thanksgiving was so great to have all of my siblings together. We were missing a few of the adult grandchildren, but everyone else was there.
There was lots of fun swimming, especially Rachel and Brinkley, who were in it several times a day.
They choreographed a water routine.
Jen offered each of them $20 if they would get Uncle Val in the pool fully clothed.
We tried to squeeze in a good family picture for Christmas cards, but this is what we got:
I love these people. And all the people up above. It was a great week and I'm so grateful for the time we had there.
Oh, and when we got home, we celebrated Jason's birthday with his parents and sister. :-)
