Me in the wilderness

On Sunday I bore my testimony about how the expecations I had for my life as a teenager have fallen short in the reality of my life, and how God's plan for each of us is way better than what we ccould plan for ourselves because he's sees the whole blueprint for our eternal lives and knows what we need to become who he wants us to become. I've been up for a few hours with a headache and this scripture keeps coming to my mind. It's one of my favorites from the old testament because it so clearly describes my life! Maybe some of you can relate:
Exodus 13:16-17
And it came to pass, when Pharoah had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, ALTHOUGH THAT WAS NEAR; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war (get scared and turn back), and they return to Egypt.
But GOD LED THE PEOPLE about, through the way of the wildnerness of the red sea; AND THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL WENT UP HARNESSED OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT.
What the spirit taught me in that verse is that sometimes my path is not a straight route to the promised land, because I have lessons to learn along the way. My path comes with twists and turns and hills and valleys, and this is how it is meant to be, for me at least! But I am HARNESSED by my Heavenly Father, knowing He is in charge and He's my guide. Just because my life isn't what I planned, doesn't mean it can't be amazing.
