Our latest Nauvoo Trip

Me and the kids were able to take a 3 day trip to Nauvoo last week. Unfortunately, Jason had to stay home but my friend Solana, a young woman from our branch, came along. Also, I took my nephew Hunter with us, as his family was busy unpacking from their move to Missouri! This is us with a young performing missionary that my parents are mentors to.

Here's a new view of the temple. There used to be a big building where the dirt is, but that was torn down and will be fully landscaped soon.

The sad part of the trip was seeing all the flooding along the mississippi river. It cost us a lot of extra driving, but was especially sad to see a flooded house, crops, and bridges. My dad has been taking the young performing missionaries almost every day to help fill sandbags in neighboring towns. Nauvoo wasn't hit too hard as far as damage goes, but you can see here that picnic tables and fences were covered in water.

Thanks, Mom and Dad! We had a great time. I took a lot of pictures. You can see them all by going to http://picasaweb.google.com/lissnjason/JuneNauvoo

fun! I've been wondering how close you'd get to flood problems.
