First Day

Yesterday was the first day of school for these three amazing youngsters.  Kayla is in 6th grade, Kyle is in 3rd, and Rachel is in Kindergarten.   They were all excited and a little bit nervous.
I love taking them in to school and watch them until the last child has left the gym, when the principal tells me to go to class.
Tough guy Kyle pretending he doesn't want his picture taken:)

I counted down the hours until I would see them again.  (literally, I did.  "Hmm, 3 more hours.  How many projects can I get done in that amount of time?)  I do miss them while they are away, but I must admit, it is very nice being able to work and do the things I need to do without interruptions.

Cheers to the new school year, and a new phase of my life.  Transitions are hard for me.  Even this one.  I'm mourning the loss of "babyhood" in my home, trying to appreciate what this means for my everyday life (i.e.. less interruptions, more stuff gets done, I'm more prepared to be present when they come home), and waiting to see how busy or not busy I'll be.  Who knows?  So far, I will be juggling being Mom & wife, home management, substitute teaching, a house cleaning job, teaching piano, volunteering at the school, preparing Seminary lessons each day, and many other service opportunities.  I am grateful for the good busyness, and the freedom I have to choose what I will do each day with this gift we call TIME.

My kids are in the exact same grades! I now just have one left at home and she is 3. It is great to be able to have more time to get all of the MOM things done. It sounds like you keep yourself pretty busy though! Enjoy the new phase :)
