Something I've been grateful for lately is the fact that Jason takes care of things at home so well while I'm teaching Seminary each morning. I've been wanting to document this for a while; so we can all remember these good mornings. I asked everyone to take the camera and help me out. Here's the result.
5:35 a.m. I kiss him goodbye as he's studying his scriptures:
5:35 a.m. I kiss him goodbye as he's studying his scriptures:
...and I head off to church with my trusty basket full of resources (yes, usually my hair is wet).
The children wake up between 5:30 and 6:00 (they choose these times and set their alarms, not us). Then they get started on jobs:
Bill paying/research,
Dishwasher duty,
breakfast making,
breakfast eating,
...and other things like emptying the recycling basket, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming and such.
When jobs are all done, by the time I get home, I find them reading and/or watching the news. This is interesting to me because I never watch the news. Kyle keeps me updated on the latest excitement of shark attacks and crime reports. This was my favorite: "Mommy, you have to watch Dr. Oz today! Make sure you watch it! There's something in your body that's killing you, and you don't even know it!"
I come in and find Rachel pretending to be a sleeping princess, ready for a kiss from her hairdresser, me.
A reminder to brush her teeth follows,
And we gather for family scripture study and prayer.
Then Jason heads off to work and the kids watch a cartoon for 15 minutes if their jobs are done; and then we're off to school.I know I am going to miss these times. I love routine. I love the security it brings and the memories that are made. I hope my kids will always remember the years when Daddy took care of them in them in the mornings.
