Odds and Ends

Here's a few fun things.  Kayla is training to jump for volleyball, and her dear old dad was more than happy to offer suggestions, like jumping up the stairs...

Rachel's friend came over bringing princess dresses,

Jason saw spare ribs on sale and for the first time, I think, looked up a recipe on the internet and slow-cooked them all day.  The 4 boneless meat eaters in the house didn't appreciate it nearly enough, but he did.

Jason taught Rachel how to play chess!

And Reina is big enough to ride the pony!

Kyle was determined NOT to be in the band.  But apparently all the 5th grades went to band the first few days to see what it was like.  The first day, Kyle came home ready with his arguments.
"Okay, I am playing in the band, and I'm playing the trumpet!  I've got 5 reasons:
1.  You can make farting noises with it
2.  Hunter plays the trumpet, and we can do it together.
3.  You only need to learn a few notes
4.  I can play a failure song when Kayla is playing the wii and loses, and
5.  I can wake everyone up in the morning!
It took some debating and lots of persuasion and commitment to practice and stick with it, but we got the boy a trumpet!

and last but not least, Kayla and I went to a Mary Kay party on Saturday, and I wanted a picture of us all made-up.  Can you tell how excited Kayla was to be in the picture?

I love Kayla's expression !! We took Emma and Lily to Dillards for a Make over and it was too fun.

Kenny played trumpet and so did my dad - tell Kyle the girls love the trumpet players (I did :)
