Happy New Year

This is our new car.  We got it at the end of November, and I didn't think it was the kind of the thing to put on the blog, but then I realized parents might like to see it, and I want to remember it :)
Jason and I had made a decision that the next time our van needed an expensive repair, it would be time to trade it in.  We've had so many problems with it.  That time came, and we got this.  A mitsubishi outlander.  It's brand new-- something we've never done before.  We love it.  The car payment, not so much (we haven't had a car payment in a decade).  But sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do, and be grateful that you can do it, which we are.

On December 30, Kyle had to get 4 pre molars removed as part of his orthodontic work.  First we went to the orthodontist to get the wire removed, then we went to the dentist to get his teeth cleaned (our family appt. was the next day but his mouth wouldn't be ready for cleaning), then to the oral surgeon for some drowsy pills, laughing gas, and teeth pulling.  Kyle loves laughing gas.  He did really well.  The doctor gave him 5 stars.  This is pretty miraculous considering his anxieties.  I think that Rachel praying for him at 2:00, and calling Diane and spreading the word a little bit really helped.  Kyle is almost back to normal today, 4 days later.  He's a tough kid.

For New Years Eve, we went to our dentist appointments, then on to Jen's house for a family party including missionaries!  We all adore this set of missinoaries, which made it fun.

Kyle and Hunter did what Kyle and Hunter do, usually something involving movie screens or computer screens :)

Rachel had fun all her own

We barley made it to midnight.  Jason and I were ready to go long before the kids.  But they really wanted to bang pots outside at midnight, which was accomplished.

On New Years day, we went to a movie thanks to Aunt Jess' Christmas gift!
