Rachel's 11th Birthday!

This firecracker turned 11 on Thursday.  (This picture is from the day before, when it was wacky Wednesday at school).
She requested cinnamon rolls in bed between 6:00-6:15 am.  Your wish is my command.

(But it wasn't easy breezy.  I'd had work and mutual the night before.  To make cinnamon rolls hot and ready for breakfast, I have to start them the night before.  So, around 9 pm, I started them, then I worked on making cupcakes and frosting that were like the ones you can buy at Walmart (mini with swirly frosting).  I didn't want to drive to Walmart, so I looked up youtube recipe videos.  The cinnamon rolls and the cupcakes were a success! I was very happy.  I got into bed at 1:30 am with one disaster only- during my baking, I decided to make the spagetti sauce for dinner the next day.  When I turned on the burner, it was the wrong one, and my recipe card holder that I've had forever melted onto the cooktop stove. :-(  So a mess of melted plastic and a new recipe project, but I made it!).

The evening of her birthday, the Days came for dinner of spagetti, bread, and salad.  We played "Say Anything" and had dessert.  It was great!

Rachel couldn't think of a thing she wanted except this book Aunt Jen gave her- "Wreck my journal."  Apparently it's a thing, she got a whole set and loves them.

Like I said, she couldn't think of a thing she wanted, so I offered her an experience.  She's always wanted to go to SkyZone trampoline park.  She invited a few friends and we were off on Saturday morning.

My friend Lisa who moved away from Concordia a couple of years ago came and brought her daughter.  It was a bonus for me to get to visit with her!
This girl...there's no one like her.  I love you, Rachel!  Happy 11th birthday!
