Rachel's first basketball season!

Rachel had the hardest time trying to decide to do basketball or cheerleading for 6th grade.  Wisely, she didn't want to do both.  She is on student council and the yearbook committee, and she stays pretty busy as it is.  She loves cheerleading, but of course, she gets comments all of the time about how she should play basketball, and the coach kept telling her she should try it and it would be fun...so she prayed about it and felt like it would be good to try out basketball and see how she likes it.  We had just paid for basketball shirts with Kayla's number on the back, so Rachel asked if it would be possible to be #12 :)  Her friend was number 12 last year and generously "gave up" her number so we could double use out of our Davis 12 shirts!  Yay!

I had to miss her first game because I was offering a prayer at my friend's funeral :(
When I saw this layout of stuff, I thought it was so cute.  I love how Rachel lays things out and keeps notes and reminders.

The first game I got to go to was at a private school, Trinity Lutheran.
She's learning!  It's fun to watch, and she's handling herself well.  Her coach isn't always...professional.  At one game last week, the "assistant" coach had told her to go sub out one of the players, so Rachel ran onto the court and got in position.  Apparently, the ref hadn't been notified, and the coach screamed at Rachel to "GET OFF THE COURT!"  My heart broke for her as she ran off the court, but I was so proud of her for not breaking down or getting upset.  She just sat down and waited for her turn.
I got a few pictures just showing the drastic height difference!

So proud of my girl!  There's still a few games left, I hope she enjoys it!

Love the pics of Rachel and the team! There is quite the difference in height! Hope she likes it! Dad said she must be the center!
