Happy Birthday Rachel!

Rachel turned 5 years old on Wednesday! It was a great day, for a great girl. She said it was her best birthday ever! She is so funny; she helped plan the whole thing; she even wanted to pick out the card I gave her (I told her that one would have to be a surprise).

This is the video Jason took for me since I was at Seminary when she woke up. I wanted to see her open the card. Ever since Jason got me a "sound card" for Mother's Day, my kids have loved the card that play a song when you open them. So I got Rachel one that fit her well.

Our gift to her was this desk. It used to be a dresser but Jason took 15 minutes and a saw and transformed it. We added a lamp and chair and she's set!

Kyle made her a drawing and a rubber frog. She immediately sat down that morning and made "thank you" cards for him and Kayla.

Kayla made the lovely princess crown that Rachel is wearing.

Rachel's good friend came over first thing in the morning and helped us get ready for Rachel's first friend party! They helped me finish up making the pinata.

Then, at 10 a.m., the rest of the guests arrived, and the party went according to Rachel's plan: They signed their name on her poster, they dressed up (if they wanted to)...

and of course FRUIT BASKET!!!...

...followed by a treasure hunt...

...and time to break the pinata!

...and lunch, cake, and opening presents! We were a little rushed toward the end. Rachel and two other friends had to get to preschool by 12:15. So we said goodbye to friends, gathered the 3 preschoolers in the van, and headed to school with her cupcakes to share.

This is the mess awaiting me when I got home! This picture doesn't even do the mess justice; but it was no problem. I had the afternoon to myself to clean it up!

I'm so grateful to have Rachel in my life.

Okay, I am laughing at the picture of the mess. How funny is that. Sometimes I feel kids are like Taz on Bugs Bunny

Holy cow Melissa, I can't believe Rachel is 5, seams like yesterday we were pregnant together and Sister Winegar and I were your visiting teachers. Were does the time go? Looks like she had a great birthday.

What a fun party. I love the gifts that Kyle and Kayla made for Rachel, those are the best kinds of gifts!
