Mommy/Daughter Day

On Saturday, Kayla and I were able to go to a stake Activity Day Girls event. It was so fun to just be with her. They fed us lunch and she got to make this cute craft.

The best part was that afterward we went grocery and clothes shopping together. It was nice to have it be just the two of us; no sibling fights or husbands in a rush. It felt like friends hanging out. Way fun.

Another first happened for me on Sunday. I played the piano for the United Methodist Church Service Sunday morning. Rachel's preschool teacher, who I've become friends with the last few years, is the regular pianist, and she was going out of town and there wasn't anyone from her congregation that could fill in, so she asked if I would be willing to. It was for 1 hour before our church started, so I told her I would. I was very nervous but it went well. I played some songs that I'd never heard before, from the Methodist Hymnal (I practiced a lot for a few days before), and some songs that I knew. The cogregation was so kind and welcoming and appreciative. Rachel went with me; she wanted to see what another church looked like. It was good she came because some neighbors of our that love Rachel go to that church, and they let her sit by her and they spread the word that I belong to the LDS church.
It still amazes me at all the opportunities to serve that keep coming my way thanks to my mediocre ability to play the piano!

What a great chance! I would be so nervous I don't think I would make it through one song. Great Job! Looks like you have a great friend in Kayla. So nice.
