An adventure for Rachel

A word from the wise(r): when your child runs in the house screaming "I broke my arm! I broke my arm!", get it checked out! We thought she was being dramatic. We thought it was a sprain. We even thought it had mostly healed by friday. It didn't hurt anymore and the swelling had mostly gone down; she just couldn't bend her arm all the way or straighten it all the way. So, Monday we took her to a local doctor who referred us to an orthopedist.

Yesterday we went to the Orthopedist. She was so good; answered all the questions they asked her-- didn't whine or complain, and did everything they asked her to as more x-rays were taken. She was okay when the doctor told me she had a broken bone just above her elbow...

...she even had fun picking out her cast color.

The saddest thing was when the nurse started wrapping her arm with the cast. She got this look on her face of a sudden realization what was happening (she had been praying that she wouldn't have to have a cast); she tried to hide her face in my arm that was around her, but she couldn't hide the big drops of tears squeezing out of her eyes. It broke my heart. She made it throught though...

...especially with the help of an ice cream cone!! She's doing fine now and has her cast filled up with signatures already.
