Well, Jason and Kyle just finished up their spring soccer season. Kyle is really enjoying it and Jason's a good coach.
An exciting thing this season is that Kyle was able to play the goalie position. It was funny how it happened. Kyle's first season, he was picking dandelions and didn't really care much for the sport. Each season he's improved and the last couple he's actually been helpful for the team now and again. So, just after halftime in the 2nd game of this season, I looked for where Kyle had been put. I couldn't see him, but I saw the two kids that usually play goalie. So, I looked down the field to the goal and I see my skinny little Kyle in the goalie shirt! I was very surprised and to be honest, my thoughts were: "What are they doing to my boy?" I thought he was going to get humiliated. Oh me of little faith, I know. So, a few minutes later, as the opposing team was running the ball toward Kyle, I was just praying to his teammates, "please keep the ball away from Kyle!" Then, all of sudden, to my surprised, he blocked a goal! And another, and another. He did pretty well as goalie for the rest of the season! This may not seem like a big deal, but I am not an athlete at all, so I was proud of his hard work. Way to go, Jason and Kyle!
Also, I believe I mentioned that I am giving Kyle piano lessons. He doing pretty good and moving along, but when I showed him this song, he was the happiest kid! He's a major star wars fan, so he memorized it pretty quick:
Rachel had clown day at school and surprised me by not wanting to dress up very "clowny" even when one of my visiting teaching sisters offered her a genuine, kid-sized, adorable clown costume. No, she wanted to wear a dress with bunny ears! Here she is, all face painted and everything.
...and Kayla got an early birthday present! She's growing so much, when we got out her bike at the first warm weather, it was too small for her to ride. We ride bikes a lot in our family, so we decided not to wait to get her a new one. She loves it. It's her first bike with hand brakes and gears.
