The ice came two days ago, a thin layer that turned everything into ice skating rinks. Then, yesterday morning the blizzard began. The snow was one thing, but the wind just made things crazy. This picture is of our front door and shows how the wind just plastered snow everywhere:
And, this is the North side of the house. The winds were on our side, as our generator hook-up is right behind the air condioner, which we needed yesterday for a few hours when the power was out. Thank goodness for emergency preparedness!
Here's the view from the streets (I'm thinking the mail will not get delivered today).
Looking down our street, you can appreciate the snow plows.
...and my favorite snow storm picture: the back door of our garage-- see the imprint of the door on the snow?
Jason and various members of our family shoveled snow every couple of hours from the driveway yesterday, so it wouldn't be too overwhelming this morning-- but apparently Kyle hasn't had enough. He headed over to the neighbors and got a good start, but quickly ran out of steam.
Kyle and Rachel ran over to the neighbors house, and made a slide out of their snowdrifts. Notice the fire hydrant tip in the middle of the picture?I was afraid of them knocking snow into the neighbors nicely plowed driveway, so I had them come back to ours. They even took off their coats because they were too hot (which lasted about 3 minutes). What a great adventure this has been! Jason left work early yesterday, and couldn't even come to close to going this morning. He tried, but the country roads out to the shop hadn't been plowed, and it's saying a lot that he didn't even attempt to get there even with his 4 wheel drive.
In other news: This is one of Kyle's snow tunnels from last week's snowfall, which had mostly melted by Monday.
Rachel lost yet another tooth and is sporting this great toothless smile.

All the snow sure makes me glad we live in Las Vegas. But looks fun to play in. Rachel's smile is gorgeous.
