A few short hours after I arrived home from Utah, Kyle and I were on a bus heading to Kansas City for a field trip!
We started out at the Steamboat Arabia Museum. I loved this quote as we entered:

I was in charge of these 3 boys. The museum was so interesting to me (Kyle says not-so-much for him). The steamboat struck a tree snag in 1856 and sunk into the mud of the Missouri River.

In 1982, 5 men decided to find it and excavate it. They found it under someone's cornfield (the rive had moved over the years). In the cargo hold, they found literally tons of 1850's treasure, perfectly preserved in the mud. And they have put it on display in this museum. This is just one picture out of a dozen that Kyle took.
