Every year our church puts on a teacher appreciation dinner, and each student can nominate teachers to attend. It was held at the beginning of May this year, and went well. Rachel was happy because both of her teachers came!
Kyle and Rachel didn't have teachers come, but they had a good time anyway.
I was really proud of Rachel for getting up and saying nice things about her teachers. It was optional, and she was terrified. But she did it.
Every year we sing a song for them and present some sort of entertainment. Our youth group is really small right now. This isn't everyone, but it's probably about 1/2.
This year we also made a music video for entertainment. Our theme was "Teachers are Superheroes" so we chose a song about superheroes. You can see it here.
We had a lot of end-of-school-year stuff going on. This is Kayla and her friend after their choir concert. You can see her videos here and here. She is on the top right in the blue shirt :)
I didn't have my camera for Kyle & Rachel's concert, so these pictures from my tablet are not very good. It was Kyle's last elementary concert! Can you see him in the blue and white striped shirt, second from the right, second row down? Click here and here
Rachel received the singing award for 3rd grade girl in her class. She was so happy- she had been working hard, hoping to receive it this year :) Click here and here to see her songs. She's top row in the center.
On thursday was the elementary school awards ceremony and 6th grade recognition. I was very pleased with the awards they each received. It's always fun to go watch. Kyle and his friends are looking forward to going to junior high in the fall, where they don't have to walk in straight, quiet lines in the hallway :-/
This is the best picture I was able to get of Kayla at her awards ceremony- she was so quick getting on and off the stage as quickly as possible, they were all blurry. I'm grateful that she's doing well, and that she has good friends.
I also had the privelege of attending Kayla's final for her piano class- which was a recital! I have been thrilled at the progress Kayla has made this year in piano, with such an amazing teacher. She was the only student in the class who had taken several years of piano, so it was neat to hear her classmates praise her. The thing that makes me the most happy, is that she's been sitting down at home on her own and playing for fun, and it makes my heart soar! Unfortunately, she really can't take piano next year if she want to take choir (there's too many other necessary classes), so she won't be taking it- but I hope she still sticks with it. Click here to see the video of her playing.
The biggest news in my life is that my time as a child care provider has come to an end. This is a terrible picture, but the best I could get of the 4 of us by myself. The 2 sweet girls' mother will no longer be teaching, and the boy will be moving out of state. I've had all of them since they were tiny babies, and love them dearly. I will miss them but I know the changes are good for them, and for me. I didn't accept any new children because I'm ready to move on to something new, and it's been an adventure learning what that will be!

It was so great to see all the end of year activities and to see the kids all singing and Kayla playing the piano and the fun activity with the teachers. Thanks for posting! I love to be able to click and see the videos too!
