Kyle leaves for boot camp

As Kyle's boot camp leave date drew closer, reality started hitting.  I knew it was a good thing but I was worried for him and would miss him.  The week before he left, restaurants started opening up to dine inside again, as since Kyle loves restaurant food, we went to a few places that week:
Texas Roadhouse
Red Robin:

IHOP:

We had an Easter get-together with Jason's parents and Crystal, where they got to say goodbye.
Carol gave him a Marines puzzle

Then, on Monday the 25th (Memorial Day) we were driving him to Denver to drop him off at the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) hotel.

Under normal circumstances, we could have stayed in Denver and watched him take his oath.  As it was, because of COVID, no one was allowed in.  So we drove home after dropping him off.  It was horrible for me.  I felt like my heart had been ripped out and left at the hotel.  So I was especially happy the next day when he sent me these pictures:

Later than evening he flew to San Diego and began his 2 week quarantine before Basic Training actually began... there goes my boy as a grown up (although he would turn 18 ten days later).
