Mommy daughter date to Utah!

Rachel and I were brave and drove to Utah together for 24 hours of fun.  Jason was in Texas and Kyle had to work.  We arrived at Crystal's house at 9 pm and she took us right back out to make Rachel's dream of visiting East High (High School Musical) come true.

We spent the night at her house and I got up bright and early to serve in the Jordan River Temple.  This was our temple for about 3 years and it's very special to me.  I received many answers to prayers in these walls.

We had a nice breakfast with Crystal and then headed to the main event, with a slight detour by my old house to show Rachel.  I love this place.  My dad built and all these trees were planted as seedlings and we'd run across the grass and jump over them.  It's amazing what 30 years will do.  It's still a beautiful house and yard.

My niece Stephanie was having a baby shower!  I'm so happy we got to go.  My mom and sisters-in-law were there, as well as nieces Brinkley, Alexis, and Kenlee, with the newsest Westwood, baby Charlotte!

It was so great for all of us to get acquainted with the baby!

I love my mommy

Afterward, we made the 3 minute drive to the Mount Timpanogos Temple for Rachel to do some baptisms.  Another special temple!  It was where I received my endowments and where we were married, and where we served for the first 4 years of our marriage.

When we came out of the temple, I had a message from Jason, saying he was heading in to the Houston, TX temple.  Good timing!

I'm so grateful that we live close enough for a quick trip like this.  Rachel and I are pretty good traveling partners, too!  We listened to LOTS of Taylor Swift and The Greatest Showman, with no complaints!  And...I really want to live in Utah someday again... when we drove into the valley, I felt butterflies remidning me that this is HOME.  The moutains filled with trees and the temples every 10 minutes...I want it!  We'll see what the future brings.
